Edna Valley is one of California's most relaxed and scenic wine regions — and a genuinely great place to bring your dog. Here are our favorites from years of touring the Central Coast.

Edna Valley sits just minutes south of San Luis Obispo — a compact, cool-climate AVA known for some of California's best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It's also one of the more dog-friendly wine regions we tour. The wineries here tend to be smaller, the atmosphere more relaxed, and the outdoor settings genuinely well suited to a day out with your pup. Here's our curated list.
Before You Go
Keep Your Dog Leashed
All dog-friendly wineries in Edna Valley require leashes at all times — for your dog's safety and out of consideration for other guests.
Bring Your Own Supplies
Pack water, a collapsible bowl, and waste bags. A few wineries provide treats and bowls, but it's always good to be self-sufficient.
Call Ahead
Policies change. We recommend confirming before your visit, especially if your dog is large or you're planning a longer stop.
Your Driver Has You Covered
If a stop on your tour doesn't allow dogs inside, your Destination Drivers driver is happy to stay with your pup while you taste.
Our Favorite Dog-Friendly Wineries in Edna Valley
Chamisal Vineyards
One of Edna Valley's flagship estates, farming organically and biodynamically. Leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor tasting areas, and the tranquil vineyard setting — just ten minutes from downtown SLO — makes for a relaxed, unhurried stop.
Claiborne & Churchill
A small, family-owned winery founded in 1983 with a devoted following for its Alsatian-style whites — Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris — alongside Pinot Noir and Syrah. Dogs are warmly welcomed in the outdoor tasting areas, and the intimate scale of the place suits a quieter afternoon.
Edna Valley Vineyard
One of the valley's most established producers, with expansive vineyard views and a spacious outdoor patio. Dogs are welcome outside, and the open grounds give them plenty of room to settle in while you taste through the estate's range.
Saucelito Canyon Vineyard
A historic property with Zinfandel vines dating to 1880 — one of the oldest surviving plantings in San Luis Obispo County. The rustic, unpretentious character of the place extends naturally to dogs, who are welcome on the outdoor patio. A genuinely memorable stop.
Tolosa Winery
Situated in the heart of Edna Valley on Edna Road, Tolosa is one of the most dog-welcoming stops in the region — staff have been known to keep water bowls and treats on hand. A warm atmosphere and a strong Pinot Noir and Chardonnay program make this a natural anchor for a dog-friendly day.
Wolff Vineyards
A family estate on Orcutt Road with a casual, welcoming feel and a range that goes well beyond the usual Edna Valley lineup — including Teroldego, Syrah, and Riesling alongside the expected Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas, and the picnic grounds are a great place to linger.
