Essential Tips for a Smooth Dog-Friendly Wine Tour
While Lodi assuredly offers a delightful environment for bringing your dog, ensuring a pleasant experience for both your canine companion and fellow winery visitors requires practicing common courtesy and awareness:
- Leash Your Dog: Most dog-friendly wineries in Lodi mandate leashes for safety. This rule safeguards not only your furry friend but also other visitors.
- Bring Supplies: While some wineries may offer water bowls, it’s best and most considerate to bring your own snacks and refreshments for your canine companion. Feeding and hydrating your pet outside is also courteous gesture.
- Respect Others: Remember that not everyone shares your love for dogs, and some may be afraid or allergic to them. Control your dog and keep them close and respect the personal space of other visitors.
- Pick Up After Your Dog: Maintaining cleanliness is crucial. Always clean up after your dog, both indoors and outdoors. Bring poop bags and be sure that all bathroom breaks are away from tasting areas. Be sure to dispose in waste bags away from tasting areas and always take a few minutes to walk your dog prior to entering the tasting area so your pooch has an opportunity to relieve itself and burn some energy.
- Verify Winery Policies: If uncertain about a winery’s policies regarding dogs, their size restrictions, etc., it’s advisable to call ahead. For those with designated drivers, confirm if they are comfortable watching your dog during your tasting experience. All of our drivers at Destination Drivers are dog friendly and would be happy to watch your dog while you’re tasting or enjoying a meal. They’ll either sit with your pooch in the vehicle or take them for a walk for you.
- Hire A Dog For The Day: Remember that Destination Drivers will provide you with a dog for the day upon request if possible. We do charge a small fee that is donated to a local animal rescue organization to support their ongoing efforts.
Comprehensive List of Dog Friendly Wineries in Lodi
Please note that while we strive for accuracy, this list may not be completely up-to-date as winery policies and operating hours can change. It’s advisable to contact the wineries in advance to verify information.
A few entries are sourced from various Lodi travel websites, while the majority are based on our own firsthand experiences.
As the Lodi wine scene continues to evolve and grow, this list is not conclusive, and new dog-friendly establishments may emerge. If a particular winery you plan to visit with your dog isn’t listed here, it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t accommodating to pets.

Dog Parks in Lodi
Within the City of Lodi, there are five designated dog parks tailored for you to enjoy alongside your canine sidekick. It’s important to note that dogs are not allowed in any other parks within the city limits. Only Three of the parks are allow your pet to be off leash
Beckman Park
Beckman Park is our personal favorite in Lodi. The largest dog park in Lodi, it’s home to an off-leash dog park situated on the corner of Century and Ham. Dogs must be leashed until you enter the park. There are two sections, one for only small dogs, located along Ham south of Century. There are two entrances for the all-dogs section of the park, one on Ham and one on Century. Note that these beautiful grassy parks are also water catchment and retention area for rainwater and so are generally closed if it is raining out.
Lodi Lake Park
Lodi Lake is a beautiful park with a small public lake adjacent to the Mokelumne River. Activities include picnics, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. Dogs are welcome on leash in most areas of the park and there is an off leash dog area on the south east side of the park near Turner Road. There is also a nature trail area, with quite a bit of wildlife. Dogs are not allowed in the nature area.
Vinewood Park
Vinewood Dog park always has some fun people and dogs running about. The park is very long so the dogs tend to split into two groups, one on the west and one on the east side–which is Great! If the dogs on one side of the park aren’t as playful, there is always more space to play ball with your pup.
Lawrence Park & Peterson Park do not allow dogs off leash but dogs are welcome.
Dog Park Guidelines
Off-leash areas provide a wonderful opportunity for your cherished canine companion to frolic, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors. Prior to releasing your dog in the designated areas of Beckman or Vinewood Parks, as well as the western section of Lodi Lake Park, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Unleashed dogs are permitted only between sunrise and sunset.
- Ensure that your dog remains under voice control at all times.
- Clean up after your dog and properly dispose of waste.
- You are accountable for your dog’s actions and conduct. If your dog displays signs of fear or aggression, promptly remove it from the area.
- Prevent dogs from digging or disrupting the landscape.
- Be mindful of noise levels and respectful of park neighbors.
- Ensure your dog wears current identification and vaccination tags.
- Always carry a leash with you.
- Limit the number of dogs to three per walker.
- Walkers/handlers must be at least 14 years old.
